Do I pay every year?
No. Every plan is paid once.
Getting started

What does Forever Photo do?
Forever Photo keeps a message, photographs or a short video you make today, and emails a link to the person you made it for on the day you choose. That day can be next month, or up to 20 years ahead on a paid plan.
I am not good with computers.
Forever Photo asks you one question at a time, in large type, and saves your answer as you go. Close the laptop and your message is waiting exactly where you left it.
Do I have to write every word myself?
No. Forever Photo asks you a few questions about the person and your memories, then writes a first draft from your answers. Every word stays yours to change, and if you would rather write the keepsake yourself, skip the questions and type straight in.
What can I put in a keepsake?
A written message, up to ten photographs with a few words, or a video of up to two minutes. A video is sent on its own. Messages and photographs are free; video comes with every paid plan.
Do I need an account before I start?
No. Answer the questions first. The account is asked for at the end, when you save the keepsake. If you stop halfway, your draft keeps on that phone or computer for 30 days.
How long does a first keepsake take?
About ten minutes. You can stop at any screen and come back to the same place later.
How does recording a video work?
Your camera stays off until you press the button. When you stop, you watch the take back and decide whether to keep that one or record another.
Can I change a keepsake after I save it?
Yes. Change the words, the photographs or the date any time before the day it goes. You can also delete a keepsake completely.
Privacy

Can anyone there read what I write?
No. Your message or photograph is locked on your own phone or computer before it reaches Forever Photo, so what we store cannot be read without your key. The email we send carries a link and never the words themselves.
What does the email to my family say?
The email says who the keepsake is from, that something is waiting, and carries a link. Your words, photographs and video are never in the email itself, because an inbox is read by more people than the person it belongs to.
Is anything I write used to train AI?
No. Nothing you keep is used to train anything, sold, or shown to anybody except the person you made it for. The interview questions are written by a program at a company called OpenRouter, which is sent the answers on that screen but never your name, your email address or who the keepsake is for.
Can I delete a keepsake, or my whole account?
Yes, any time. Deleting removes the files. The only thing kept afterwards is the payment record the law requires.
Can I get a copy of everything I made?
Yes. Take your own copy, on your Account page, gives you every message as a plain text file and every photograph and video as an ordinary file. Those files open on any computer without Forever Photo.
What if your systems are ever broken into?
An intruder would find files that were locked on your own device before they reached us. The key for each keepsake is stored separately and is itself locked.
Delivery

When does a keepsake arrive?
On the morning of the day you chose, by email, to each person on the keepsake. On the free plan, pick any day up to one year ahead. A paid plan reaches up to 20 years ahead.
Does my family need an account, or have to pay?
No. The person you wrote to presses the link in the email, and we send a six digit code to the same address. They type the code, which lasts 15 minutes, and the keepsake opens. They never sign up for anything and never pay.
Will my family know a keepsake is coming?
Only if you want your family to know. Near the end of the interview is a box that sends the person you wrote to an email saying something is coming, and the day it opens. The box starts unticked, and that email never says what you wrote.
Can my family open a keepsake before the day?
If you told the person a keepsake is coming, that person can ask to open it early, once. You get an email and answer yes or no. Nothing opens until you say yes.
Will I know when a keepsake has been opened?
Yes, if you want to. We can email you a week before the keepsake goes, on the morning it is sent, and the first time it is read. You choose which of those emails you get.
What if somebody’s email address changes?
Update the address in your contacts any time before the day. If an email cannot be delivered, we try again several times, then write to you so you can put the address right.
Can one keepsake go to more than one person?
The free plan sends each keepsake to one person. On a paid plan, Starter up to three, Family up to five, Legacy up to ten people can be on one keepsake. After a keepsake has been delivered, you can also send it to somebody new.
Can my family keep the photographs and the video?
Yes. Once the keepsake is open, each photograph and video has its own Save button, so the person you sent it to can keep a copy on their own phone.
Try it with one person in mind
Your first keepsakes are free, and you can stop and come back whenever you like.
Payment

Do I pay every year?
No. Your first three keepsakes are free, and after that every plan is one payment, starting at $4.99. Nothing renews and there is no yearly bill.
What is free?
Three keepsakes, written or with photographs, each for one person and delivered up to a year ahead. No card is needed to start.
What does each plan cost?
Starter is $4.99 for 5 keepsakes, Family is $29.99 for 40 keepsakes, Legacy is $99.00 for 200 keepsakes. Each plan is paid once, and every paid plan includes video.
Can I move to a bigger plan later?
Yes. Moving up costs the difference between the two prices, and every keepsake you have already made stays where it is.
What if I fill my plan?
Move up to the next plan. If you fill Legacy, room for 50 more keepsakes is $29.00, also paid once.
Can I get a refund?
Yes. Ask within thirty days of paying and we refund the payment in full. Download your keepsakes first.
If something happens to you

What if I am not here when the day comes?
We check in with you from time to time. If the day ever comes, we ask the person you chose. Nothing is delivered until they confirm it.
How does checking in work?
Every three, six or twelve months, whichever you pick, we email you a button that says I am still here. If the email goes unanswered, we send it again every seven days. After three weeks without an answer, we write to the person you chose and ask them.
Is anything sent just because I stopped answering?
No. Nothing goes out on a timer, however long the silence lasts. A keepsake set for after you have passed away goes only when the person you chose confirms it.
What if the person I chose presses the button by mistake?
Nothing is sent for two days after they confirm. Until then, the same link shows a way to take the answer back.
Can a keepsake wait until after I have passed away?
Yes. Turn on checking in and name the person we should ask. Then, when the interview asks when the keepsake should go, choose After I’ve passed away instead of a date.
What if you go out of business?
You can download your keepsakes, photographs and videos at any time, in a form that opens without Forever Photo, and we publish exactly what would happen to your keepsakes if this company ever stopped.
What happens to keepsakes already scheduled if you close?
We would give 90 days’ notice by email, to you and to everybody you have written to. A keepsake dated inside those 90 days is delivered on its day, and we would tell you by name which keepsakes are set for later.
