Forever Photo

If we ever shut down

A fair question to ask before you put something irreplaceable here. Two of the better known services in this category have already closed, and one of them gave its customers almost no warning.

You can take everything with you, today

Your Account page has a button called Take your own copy, and it works from the first day. It gives you every message, every photograph and every video, in ordinary files that open on any computer without us. Nothing is locked to this company.

If we decide to stop

We would give ninety days of notice by email, to you and to every person you have written to. During that time the site stays open and the export keeps working, and we would email you more than once, because one email in a spam folder is not notice.

Any message already scheduled would be delivered on its day if that day falls inside the notice period. Nothing set for after that time would be dropped quietly. We would tell you which ones they are, by name.

If something happens to us suddenly

This is the part most services do not answer. The storage is ordinary cloud storage rather than anything exotic, so it can be handed to somebody else without rebuilding it, and the ninety days of notice above still applies.

What we will not do

We will not sell your messages. Every message and photograph is locked before it leaves your device, and stays locked in storage. We keep the key that unlocks it on the day it is due, which is how a message can still arrive years from now. No one here opens them. If this company is ever bought, the buyer takes on everything written here, and you would be told who they are before it happened.

Still have a question?

and a person will answer you.
